DePLAYment Program Guidelines

How It Works

Air Force Installations are provided “DePLAYment Tag Pass Packs” for distribution to eligible members. These tag pass packs contain numbered dog tags that can be removed and placed on a key ring; much like the ones used at stores in the United States to indicate a frequent shopper; i.e. PetsMart, Office Depot, etc. The pre-printed numbered code on the tag, called a “tag –code” serves as unique identifier for each family and each family member.

You simply pick up your DePLAYment Tag Pass Pack, then log onto the www.myairforcelife.com website to register. Once registered, you may use your tag-pass for discounts and free programs identified by the installation.

Deployment Defined For Qualification

Deployment is described as TDY for 30 days or more; or 365-PCS in support of an active Operation and documented on official orders

Family Defined For Qualification

Family is defined as spouse and/or children with DoD I.D. Cards. It also includes family members that are sponsored and have a DoD I.D. card (i.e. Sponsors a parent, sibling, etc.)

 Eligibility

Upon issuance of qualified deployment orders for more than 30 days in support of an active Operation

     ALLOWABLE EXCEPTIONS TO TIMELINE:

If qualified deployment orders were issued before 1 Jul 09 but the sponsor is currently deployed or returned on or after 1 Jul 09 and other eligibility requirements are met

EXCLUSIONS: Deployed single airmen without dependents are not authorized to participate in this program due to the types of funding with the exception of AFW2 members

The AF Aid Society (AFAS) is known as the official charity of the Air Force.  It is a Non-Profit organization that helps the Air Force take care of its own in emergencies through interest-free loans or grants for basic needs and special programs.

The following are examples of some of the financial needs that could qualify you to receive emergency financial assistance:
- Rent or mortgage payment to prevent eviction or foreclosure
- Money to purchase Food
- Money for a dependent's funeral expenses
- In some cases, travel to a family member's funeral
- Help paying utility bills to avoid being cut off
- Car repair for the essential vehicle

The AFAS recognizes that Air Force families are subject to unique stresses due to the nature of military life - deployments, remotes, extended work hours, etc.  In an effort to alleviate some of these stresses, the AFAS, in conjunction with the Force Support Squadron, has agreed to provide funding for child care under a program called, "Give Parents A Break" as well as vehicle maintenance under a program called "Car Care Because We Care.
