Dear Parents and Youth:
It is a pleasure to introduce and welcome you to the Dyess Air Force Base Youth Program! We are a staff devoted to the ever changing demands of today's youth, possessing a genuine concern for the numerous forces confronting them. Our programming is designed to develop, enhance and foster social, physical, and developmental skills that encourage positive use of leisure time, thus providing the tools for each youth to achieve his or her quality of life pursuits.
All children must have a current activity card (Membership costs $60 per year) to participate in Youth Program activities (A parent or youth 16 and older must accompany children under 10 years of age). A parent must update the AF Form 88, Youth Programs Application, semi-annually - October and April. Entrance to the Youth Program is granted by presenting a current activity card or paying a $2.00 daily facility use fee. Guests are allowed, but may not be older than 18 years of age unless they are still in high school.
Parents must complete the AF Form 1181 Youth Flight Program Patron Registration, for each child enrolled in any type of school-age programs, such as before- and after-school and full-day summer and holiday camps. Fees for these programs are based on total family income; therefore, parents are also required to complete the DD Form 2652, Application for Department of Defense Child Care Fees, to enable staff to compute correct fee category. (Fees include meals, when applicable, and snacks). The DD Form 2652 must be reaccomplished each year prior to implementing new fees and charges.
Participants in "open activities" must sign-in upon arrival and sign-out when leaving. Participants may come and go at will, as long as sign-in and sign-out procedures are followed.
The base dress code will be observed by youth at all times. Persons wearing questionable clothing (obscene patches, lettering, bandannas etc.) will not be admitted.
Children ages 5-12 in the center for Friday night Fun Night must remain in the building
Dependents ages 5 through 18 years, or academic grades 1 through 12 of active-duty military, retired military, and Department of Defense civilians, including NAF employees, are eligible for membership at the Dyess AFB Youth Center.
Exception: Instructional classes / sports may serve youth under 5 years of age; high school seniors may participate until September following their graduation; school-age programs give priority to children of employed active duty military or DOD civilians.

Participation in the Youth of the Quarter and Year selection process can benefit higher education in the following programs:
Southwest Texas Regional Youth of the Year
Air Force Youth of the Year
Both of these awards follow the criteria set by the Boys & Girls Club of America. It is based on leadership qualities and service exhibited through home and family, moral character, school, service to club, life goals, obstacles overcome, essays, poise and public speaking. Youth compete at center level then proceed to state level and if selected for the state, they go on to regional then to national. Regional level winners can receive a $5,000 scholarship while the national winner can receive an additional $10,000. The Base winner competes at the command level, after being selected for a base. From there they go on to Air Force level and each base selectee travels to Washington D.C. for a special ceremony. Scholarships from the Air Force can be awarded at the command and AF levels and each Command has an Air Force winner.
Congressional Award
A challenging program that offers young people the opportunity to set personal goals and the means to achieve them. Goal setting revolves around volunteerism for public service, personal development, physical fitness and expedition or exploration. Minimum age to earn an award is 14 and all goals must be accomplished by their 24th birthday. Youth are encouraged to complete this goal oriented program through six levels of achievement. Each level (bronze, silver, gold certificates and bronze, silver, gold medals) is expressed in a point system that is cumulated, meaning as a level is finished, the points carry over to the next level. We are proud to offer this life-enriching program.
Youth Employment Skills (YES) Program
The Youth Employment Skills (YES) Program is an on-base volunteer program for high school students. A joint effort between the Air Force Aid Society and Air Force Services offering high school students an opportunity to learn valuable work skills, "bank"dollar credits towards their secondary education and have a positive impact on their base community. YES allows the student to put $4 in grant funding for every hour volunteered in an on-base function. Dependent children of active duty Air Force members assigned to Dyess AFB are eligible.
